About Cassie

Tell us about your personal values

I value compassion, openness, freedom and integrity.

What does life look like at home?

Being a country kid, I always wanted to raise my children in the country. When we had our little ones (2yo and 7months) we left the hustle and bustle of the city for Cowaramup - I love trees and my partner loves surfing so this is our perfect location.

Our life is pretty hectic, juggling work, study, family and the garden but I think that’s just the era we live in and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

What lead you to work in this field?

I studied a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Environmental) which combined my love for trees with my love for maths. During my third year at university, I was offered vacation work with Rio Tinto and I haven't looked back.

I grew up in Karratha so I have always been surrounded by mining. I saw firsthand the investment these companies make in their people and the communities in which they operate.

What are you passionate about at work?

I love my job. I love that every day is different. I feel empowered to make decisions and can empower others to do the same. I truly believe I am making a difference to the way in which we operate both environmentally and socially. Plus, I get to work with amazing people.
